Credit cards can be a tremendous benefit when it comes to learning how to successfully manage your money. As a matter of fact, the most successful individuals usually have a whole host of different credit cards that they use for certain purchases. While it’s possible to get in over your head when it comes to credit card use, it’s all in how you decide to spend when using them. As long as you still live within your means, you just might find that having a few credit cards on hand is one of the best decisions you’ve ever made, especially if you’re faced with a major expense that you weren’t anticipating and you need extra cash quickly.
For those that have learned how to manage their money well, credit cards can become another way that they make their money work for them. One such example is using cards that offer points. Points can be used for all kinds of different things. Some people use them to get discounted airfare or upgrade their hotel rooms without any additional cost. Others use points to dine out for free or to make extra purchases. Depending on the card in question, those points can sometimes be turned into cash at a later date. It’s all about finding a way to get the most advantages for the money you’re spending. Below are five credit cards that offer a welcome bonus of 100,000 points. That fact alone should get your attention.
Hilton Honors Aspire Card (American Express)
This card has an annual fee of $450, but you can make all of that back and then some with the points. Just for signing up, you get 100,000 points. It averages out to about $600 worth of benefits. Those benefits include $100 for staying at Conrad hotels or at the Waldorf Astoria. In addition, you get an additional $250 credit anytime you stay at a Hilton hotel as well as another $250 worth of airline credits. In other words, having this card can help you save big money when it comes to travel expenses. If you spend a lot of time traveling by air or staying at upscale resorts, this card can pay for itself very quickly.
Hilton Honors Ascend Card (American Express)
When it’s all said and done, this card offers you the same 100,000 points that are equal to about $600 worth of value, but you only have to pay an annual fee of $95 a year. The reason that it’s so much cheaper is because the points are distributed differently. With this particular card, you get one free weekend night’s stay at any Hilton hotel after you spend $15,000 within a year’s time. In addition, you get elevated to what the company calls Diamond Status if you spend more than $40,000 during that same year. This amounts to getting additional perks that can save you a lot of money in the long run. While all this might not be the best card for an individual, many businesses use it because it doesn’t take that long to rack up that much money in hotel fees when you have several different people using the same account.
Aer Lingus VISA Signature Card
This card also requires you to pay an annual fee of $95 a year but the 100,000 points are valued at around $1,500. That’s a big jump from the $600 when compared to the other two cards that are listed above. The benefits are mainly related to air travel. In order to get them, you have to spend $30,000 in a year and it all has to be in economy class. After you’ve spent that much money, you get a free companion ticket so someone can travel with you without spending any additional cash. Again, this is something that works well for businesses who are constantly sending people all over the globe.
British Airways VISA Signature Card
For the same $95 a year, the 100,000 points also equal about $1,500 for this card. In fact, it’s virtually identical to the card that’s listed above. While there are some minor differences, the major difference is that this one is associated with British Airways. If you spend $30,000 in a year flying on that airline, you get a companion ticket without any additional charge.
Business Platinum Card (American Express)
This is another card that requires you to pay $450 for an annual fee each year but the points are valued at just under $2,000. The card offers all kinds of perks for different hotels as well as a $200 credit to use for air travel. It’s one of the more effective business cards because the more money that you spend, the more you get back in benefits.
